Fire Safety VR
Project Description
One of the many benefits of Virtual Reality (VR) is that it eliminates the risks associated with training in hazardous environments. Users can learn from mistakes without endangering themselves or others, reducing injuries and fatalities.
With this in mind, we created an internal fire safety app, where users would encounter a fire in a computer-generated replica of our main office and then make a series of informed choices regarding raising alarms, evacuating the building and actually fighting the fire.
My Role
This was an ongoing project during gaps between client-based work, so my responsibilities on this project were numerous and extensive. They included:
- Coding many aspects of the core experience in C#
- Modelling, texturing and animating a CG replica of our main office at Buckhurst Court, Wokingham, including many items of furniture and structural features, internal and external
- Rigging, animating and coding the behaviours of the various characters populating the scene, such as office workers and firefighters
- Delegating tasks to other team members and managing the workflow
