Smarter Cities AR
Project Description
Wokingham Borough Council asked, “How do we make our town smarter?” Our solution was Wocca, an Augmented Reality (AR) app designed to reshape how people engage with their local area.
Wocca offers families with children an entertaining way to rediscover their local area. Similar to Pokémon Go, it utilises AR to animate points of interest across the town and its environs. The game promotes walking, cycling, and public transportation, encouraging active exploration of the community.
My Role
My role within the project centered on creating a selection of the various AR experiences and mini-games contained in the app. Working in Unity and C#, these were quite diverse and included:
- Coding and animating a Spitfire AR fly-over experience with 3D plane models and particle effects
- Modelling and morphing poppies growing up from the grass in an interactive AR experience
- Modelling and coding an interactive archaeological site where users would search and for ancient artifacts
- Coding and setting up the UI for an AR pavement painting experience
- Coding and setting up the UI for colouring a stained glass window in AR
